# Updating and Reloading

### Update BetterBaltop

The safest update method is:

1. Stop the server.
2. Back up `plugins/BetterBaltop/config.yml` and `messages.yml`.
3. Replace the old BetterBaltop JAR with the new version.
4. Start the server.
5. Check the console and run `/bbt status`.

Your existing configuration and messages are not overwritten during normal startup. Newly added message paths use bundled fallback values.

### PlugManX support

BetterBaltop supports PlugManX disable and enable cycles. During disable, BetterBaltop:

* Closes its open menus
* Cancels scheduled refresh work
* Rejects late asynchronous results
* Clears profile caches
* Unregisters listeners
* Detaches command handlers

When enabled again, it reads `config.yml` and `messages.yml` from disk and creates fresh menu, cache, Vault, and PlayerPoints state.

After a PlugManX reload:

1. Confirm the BetterBaltop enable message appears.
2. Run `/bbt status`.
3. Open `/baltop` and test both leaderboard types.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Use a full restart when installing, removing, or updating BetterBaltop, Vault, your economy plugin, or PlayerPoints. PlugManX cannot guarantee safe dependency class-loader changes across every plugin.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cheddah-development.net/plugin-documentaion/better-baltop/updating-and-reloading.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
